About us

SEND the Right Message Charity aims to support neurodivergent and disabled children, young people, adults, and their parents or carers in Essex and Southend.

We provide support services, assistance, information, activities and training programmes. As an organisation, we also help alleviate financial hardship, create opportunities for respite breaks, promote social inclusion, and raise awareness and acceptance. The charity is committed to developing and promoting innovative and early interventions for the health and well-being of beneficiaries.

Our vision is for parent carers, children, and young people with specific educational needs and disabilities to fulfil their potential by enabling families to live happier, healthier, longer lives and empowering families to help and support each other. SEND the Right Message’s mission is to improve the quality of life for families in Southend and Essex where a child has been identified or is suspected of having specific educational needs and/or disabilities through inclusive and supportive activities.

Our Values

Our values are the driving force behind our efforts to improve the lives of children, young people, adults, and their parents or carers who are neurodivergent and/or have disabilities. They guide our actions and decisions, ensuring that we stay true to our mission.

These values focus on the following:

  • Inclusiveness: At our core, we prioritise creating a strong sense of belonging and connectedness for our families. We wholeheartedly recognise and value the unique experiences of parents/carers and aim to provide a space where they feel truly seen and heard. Our families are at the heart of what we do.
  • Commitment: Our commitment to the community is unwavering. We actively listen, learn, and respond empathetically to our beneficiaries’ evolving needs. We value your input and strive to create a space where everyone feels heard and included, fostering a sense of belonging and unity.
  • Empowerment: We develop a culture of building self-confidence and self-esteem for our beneficiaries and work cooperatively and collaboratively with the local community.
  • Integrity: Our commitment to trustworthiness, authenticity, and transparency is the cornerstone of our operations. We strive to inspire confidence and security in our families and the wider community, always acting with integrity and being a reliable and honest source in all our interactions.

How we help?

At STRM, we believe in empowering your child, young person, and family to achieve their full potential by providing the necessary support for a great start.

  • Pre-Diagnosis and Post-Diagnosis Support plus what to do ‘while you are waiting’.
  • Information and support about money and benefits.
  • Activities that can help you and your child in day-to-day life (for example, improving social and leisure activities or supporting learning at school).
  • Connecting with our support groups and resources, you can become a part of a community of parent carers and broaden your knowledge of disabilities and neurodiversity.
  • Lastly, we want to help parent carers, children, and young people look ahead and prepare for the future.
